A - chieve: A certain level of knowledge
C - ertify: To confirm that a coach has obtained a level of understanding over that which he/she has been tested on.
E - ducate: To assist with the gathering of knowledge and information

 

The ACE Coaching Certification Program is designed to help youth softball coaches understand what their responsibilities are as a coach of a youth softball team, and to help coaches have a positive and enjoyable experience on the softball field.

The Coaching program clinic will consist of the following topics:

    Principles of Coaching ( including dealing with parents)
    Legal issues in Sports
    First Aid
    Practice Organization
    Coach-Umpire Relations
    Sport-Specific Skills

 

                                First Year Certification

           Take a certification test (taken directly from the ACE Coach manual)
             Take home a copy of the ACE Coaching Certification manual
             Code of Ethics Pledge
             $5 million liability insurance policy ( only if coaching as ASA registered team)
             Personalized membership card as an ASA/USA Softball Coach
             ACE Coach certificate
             Discount coupons on ASA merchandise and training videotapes

                                        Second Year Re-Certification

1. Re-certification will occur each year

2. Coaches will take a re-certification test.  The test covers questions taken directly from the ACE Coaches manual.  Therefore, it is critical that you keep the ACE Coach manual.  The fee for re-certification will be $20.

3. Code of Ethics Pledge

4. After re-certification the ASA will send the Coach an updated ACE Coach ID Card, an updated ACE Coach Certificate, and the $5 million liability insurance policy.

 

                            Third Year Re-Certification & Beyond

3. A fast pitch or slow pitch rules test.

4. After re-certification the ASA will send the Coach an updated ACE Coach ID Card, an updated ACE Coach Certificate, and the $5 million liability insurance policy.
